Parental support

We believe that it is very important in a child’s education that parents have an understanding of how we teach.

This will help the parents support their child at home.

Understanding Phonics -Read Write Inc. – Click Here

The school teaches children to read using the Read, Write Inc phonics programme. This programme begins in Early Years and continues into Key Stage 1. For further information please click the above link.

The school reading scheme is Rigby Rocket. These books are used for both individual readers and guided reading. In order to provide a breadth of reading experiences this scheme is supplemented by other books.

If you have any questions regarding either the teaching of phonics or the school reading scheme please contact our Literacy Co-ordinator, Mrs. L. Cubbage, at the school.

Tapestry

Children attending our School will have an individual on-line learning journey which records observations, photographs and comments made by practitioners and parents in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).

The learning journey is used to record the child’s experiences and for staff to document their progress to ensure all areas of the EYFS are covered and children obtain the best outcomes.

The online system we use is Tapestry which is hosted on secure servers in the UK. You will have secure access to your child’s learning journey with an email address and password. In addition to viewing the contributions made by our staff we encourage you to comment on them when logged in. Also we would like you to add to the learning journey by uploading your own photos and/or comments.

Instructions on how to operate Tapestry can be found below.

(Our staff will be pleased to support you at every stage)
