St Andrews School singers

December 2017

The choir was invited by Padre Nathan to sing at the Armed Forces Carol Service at St. Nicholas’ Cathedral in Newcastle.

As this event was on quite late the choir was represented by their older members. They sang fantastically with the choir from Stamfordham Primary School.

The children sang traditional songs such as Silent Night and Away in a Manger before joining with the Military Wives Choir to sing together.

We hope you enjoy watching the videos of us singing:

We are singing carols again this week at St. Cuthbert’s Church at 6.30pm on Tuesday 12th December 2017 and in Sainsbury’s in Throckley on Thursday morning and we hope to see you there.

December 2016

The choir visited both Rosewood and Lindisfarne Residential Homes in Throckley to sing to the residents.

They thrilled both staff and residents alike with a wonderful medley of Christmas songs. One resident commented that it made her very happy and that she had filled up with tears.

The children were very pleased to receive juice, cakes and a small party bag from the homes as a token of their gratitude.

The choir has now finished its activities for this term and looks forward to resuming in the Spring.

The choir and school would like to offer its thanks to Mrs. Milner who leads the school choir and plays with skill and expertise.

Christmas starts here!

The choir were invited to sing to open the Christmas Fair at The Swan in Heddon. They sang beautifully and created an amazing atmosphere for all to enjoy.

Thank you for all of your support at this event. The choir also really enjoyed singing to all the people at the opening of the school Christmas Fair on Friday.

The choir are already looking forward to visiting the Residential Homes in Throckley this week.

September 2016

We are pleased to announce that we have launched our choir again for his year. There are 22 members of the choir taken from across the school from Year 1 to Year 4.

Sadly, Miss Phillipson could no longer continue to run the choir but luckily we have recruited Mrs Milner a parent of children in our school.

The choir already has its first booking and we are singing at the Swan for the Christmas fair. The date will be announced shortly.imageimageimage

St Andrew’s School Singers, perform around our local community throughout the year.

June 2016

The Choir did a fantastic job taking part in the ‘Songs of Praise’ at St. Cuthbert’s Church in Throckley.

They sang ‘My God is Great’ (with actions!) to a packed church and invited all of those attending to join in.

It was a great success and we hope to attend the next event in December.

Thank you to all parents who brought their children and attended the event.

December 2015

St. Andrew’s Singers were out and about in the community today.

They visited Rosewood Residential Home in Throckley and sang some festive songs and carols for the staff and residents.

They then went to Sainsburys in Throckley to sing in the entrance to the store.

The singing was enjoyed by all who heard it and the children raised over £40 which will be donated to charity to help those less fortunate than ourselves.

The children thoroughly enjoyed themselves and were really proud that they had helped people in the community feel better and made a positive contribution. They also really enjoyed the special treats that they received after their singing.

March 2015

Our choir, the St. Andrew’s Singers, performed at the annual Daffodil Tea at the WI Hall in Heddon.

This event is organised by Mrs. Crosby for the elderly people in Heddon and is always well attended.

The children sang songs they enjoy such as Puff the Magic Dragon, A Spoonful of Sugar, Nellie the Elephant, Somewhere Over the Rainbow, Sing a Rainbow and the Ugly Bug Ball. Their singing was enthusiastically received and the audience enjoyed joining in.

The event was rounded off with a special tea laid on for the children in true WI style with home-made sandwiches and cakes.

Special thanks must go to Mrs. Graham and Miss. Phillipson for their hard work with the Choir.
