Year 3’s First Ukulele Lesson!

We absolutely loved our first session with Mr Reay! We got the opportunity to perform solo, watch videos of ukulele performances and- amazingly- we can already play 2 songs. We are already excited for next week.

Year 2 Art

In Art this half term we are learning to use Oil Pastels and have started by experimenting with different techniques.  We have learned to blend colours to white, and black and also heavy blending by mixing 2 colours together.  Lots of us said that our favourite technique was called ‘Sgraffito’ because we scratched patterns into the colours.

Science in Year 6

Year 6 have been working hard to build electrical circuits in our science lessons. We have used some familiar components such as bulbs and switches, before drawing our circuits using recognised symbols. Across the half term, we will plan and carry out scientific experiments to answer key questions such as, “How can I make bulbs brighter and buzzers louder?”

We were careful to make sure we worked with the electrical equipment in a safe and sensible manner.

Remembering The Queen

The children in The Owls’ Class have been thinking about how important The Queen was to so many people and all that she did. What an amazing woman! We worked as a team to make a beautiful collage to help us remember her.

Our amazing Owls

Well done to all of The Owls in Reception Class. What a lovely first fortnight we have had in school getting to know each other, playing and learning together!

Splashing in muddy puddles

What a wonderful first week in Nursery! Well done to all of the children who have returned after the summer and our new starters, you have settled in so well.

Nursery made the most of the rain last week and thoroughly enjoyed getting their wellies on and splashing in muddy puddles!

Un, Deux, Trois

Check out our hopscotch skills!

We used this playground game as a fun way to rehearse our numbers 1 – 10 in French. Some of us even tried counting backwards!

The Romans have arrived in Year 4!

We have been excited to start reading our new class text, ‘So You Think You’ve Got It Bad: A Kids Life in Ancient Rome’. So far we have read all about home life and we agree that it would be very messy to eat lying down!

In PE, we created some Roman dances. Each movement represents a fact about Ancient Rome. Can you work out what the facts could be?

Practising letterjoin

Year 1 have had a brilliant week and have settled in well.  In our handwriting sessions this week we have been learning the lead in and lead out lines for the letters i, l and t.  It was tricky practising writing the letters on the lines in our handwriting books but we soon started to get the hang of it!

Spinning Seeds

Year 2 have had a fabulous first week back at school!  In Science we have been looking at seed dispersal as part of our Plants topic.  Here we are testing our own maple tree seed models made from paper:
